The three-group Strada X is the most capable espresso machine La Marzocco builds, at the capacity a flagship bar needs. Under each group sits a magnetic-drive gear pump variable from 0 to 12 bar, so pressure is a controlled variable throughout the shot and all three groups can run entirely different curves at the same time.

Pressure profiling, properly implemented

  • A gear pump per group, plus a rotary vane supply pump: the rotary pump holds stable line pressure for Smart Saturation and steam boiler fill; the three gear pumps execute the profiles independently. No interaction, no compromise between groups.
  • Smart Saturation: the machine senses backpressure in the grouphead and automates pre-infusion accordingly, holding low pressure until the puck is genuinely saturated — the part of the shot where most channelling begins.
  • Mass-Based Profiling: ties the pressure profile to a target beverage weight through a predictive mass algorithm, so saved profiles stay repeatable rather than drifting with dose or grind.
  • Three working modes: Manual to build a curve live on the paddle, Profile to save and repeat curves, and AV to set a custom pressure with a target weight and let it run.
  • Three independent 1.3 L saturated brew boilers with PID quoted at ±0.1 °F, plus an 11.8 L steam boiler at 4000 W — steam capacity for two baristas on milk continuously.
  • Drip-tray scales accurate to ±0.5 g with Drip Prediction, paired directly to the profiles, plus Brew Ratio mode.
  • Per-group graphical displays, Pro Touch cool-to-touch steam wands, auto steam flush and an expanded drip tray.

Straight-In or Standard portafilter

Both are the same machine with different group hardware. Straight-In portafilters push in axially with an automatic locking system, and removing one triggers an automatic purge with hot water and an auto-clean with steam after a two-second delay — less wrist strain, less puck damage and faster turnaround, which compounds across three groups. Standard uses a conventional bayonet with a manual rinse lever. Scales, profiling and Brew Ratio are unaffected by the choice.

Best suited to

Roastery flagships and destination bars, competition venues, multi-roaster programmes where every coffee gets its own curve, and high-volume specialty operations that will not trade capacity for control.

The Standard Portafilter configuration is supplied to special order. Requires a dedicated 50 A circuit. Certified UL-197, NSF-8 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 109.
